The whole level in view, your friends running beside you.
Panorun is an emulator for classic 8-bit console games that keeps the whole level in view: everything you have scrolled past stays on screen around the game. Play together online, and your friends run beside you inside your own game. Panorun is made by TIE-Games, an independent studio in Dresden, Germany.

- The installer asks where to install and whether to put a shortcut on the desktop. No administrator rights are needed.
- The installer isn't code-signed yet: if Windows says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.
- Later Panorun updates itself: click Update when it says a new version is out.
- To remove Panorun: Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Panorun → Uninstall. Your games and recordings stay in Documents\Panorun.

Downloading Panorun… Give it a minute.
- When it's finished, tap Open in the message at the bottom of Chrome.
- No Open, or the message is gone? Tap ⋮ at the top right of Chrome, then Downloads, and tap the file there. Or open the Files app (on Xiaomi phones File Manager), then Downloads, and tap the file.
- Tap Install.
- Open this page in your phone's browser (Chrome - not inside another app) and tap the button. When the download is finished, tap Open in the message at the bottom, then Install. Missed it? Chrome's ⋮ → Downloads has the file: tap it there.
- The first time, Android asks whether your browser may install apps: allow it, go back and tap Install again.
- Downloaded here, Panorun doesn't come from the Play Store, so Google Play Protect may not know it: tap More details, then Install anyway.
- Panorun from Google Play and Panorun from this page can't be installed over each other: to change, uninstall the one you have first - that removes the games kept in it.
- A new version installs the same way, over the one you have: your games stay.
What it does
- Keeps the level in view. A console draws one screen at a time and forgets the rest. Panorun keeps every screen it has drawn and paints the level around the game where it belongs, so the ground you have crossed stays on screen to the left, above and below.
- Draws a map as you play. A strip under the game shows the level so far, with you on it.
- Lets you play together. Open a room and send its code, or join one of the rooms listed on the room server; whoever joins plays their own copy of the same game, and everyone's character runs through everyone else's game, each in a colour of their own, with their line on the map. A game far ahead waits for the others, so everyone stays together. Up to twelve players a room.
- A room server, or none. PLAY ONLINE opens rooms on Panorun's room server on the web, listed there for your friends to join. Or play LOCAL: the room runs in the window of whoever opens it, and friends join it directly. Panorun for Windows comes with a room server anyone can run.
- Fights for real. Once Panorun knows where a game keeps your health, the others can strike your character, and it hurts the way the game's own enemies do: you are knocked back and your health drops. Everyone's health shows over their name.
- Learns each game by itself. As you play, Panorun learns what your character looks like and which button jumps or strikes, and players in a room share what their Panorun knows of a game.
- Records your runs. RECORD keeps every button you press, and REPLAY plays the run again from where it began.
- Plays with what you have. Keyboard or gamepad, with every key and button yours to set. On a phone, a cross on the left and A, B, TURBO A and TURBO B on the right.
- Smooth on a phone. The console's processor, picture and sound chips run as native code, so Panorun plays smoothly on a phone, with friends in the room too.
No games are included. Panorun plays games made for the classic 8-bit console. Independent developers still write new games for this console, and many give them away - search the web for 8-bit homebrew games. Or use copies of games you own. Add them with ADD GAMES, or drop them onto the window; Panorun keeps them in Documents\Panorun. On a phone, ADD GAMES and CHOOSE FOLDER open your phone's own file picker. Your privacy
Panorun has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Your games, settings and recordings stay on your computer or phone. Panorun contacts only GitHub, to look for a newer version (on Windows); our room server and this website, for the list of games we have published a game file for, and a listed game's file when you start it; and, when you play online, the room server or the computer whose room you join: it then shares your name, your character, its health and the level you are in with the players in that room, and the room server or the room's computer sees your internet address.
